Cafe Erra

Café Erra sits in the gay cluster near the river with TinglTangl and Friends. The café features a full menu of reasonable food, and (as always) a full bar. The interior is trendy and vaguely industrial/art school hip (with a fair number of original paintings for sale). Unfortunately, the decor is a bit tired and the service can be slow. Really, there is nothing wrong with Café Erra, We’ve been with friends and enjoyed ourselves. But, for the tourist coming for a week or less the venue is completely forgettable.

If you want to dine or relax in this part of town, there are however some great options:

Café Louvre back out on Narodni Street, features the look of a 19th century French Salon with the added history that Kafka and Einstein are known to have frequented. Just be sure when you go up the stairs to not walk into the “Café Louvre Paris” (a modern decor pretender, though nice enough) and go up one more flight to the real deal. Today it is best known for its desserts and hot chocolate. Map: here. Website: here.

Café Slavia: Located right at the end of Narodni Street, this incredible art deco interior features views of both the National Theater and the Vlatava River. Really, it is hard to know where to stare while you are there. It should be a tourist trap, but once again the prices are not bad, especially for the location. Map: here. Website: here.

If you still feel the need to visit Café Erra we won’t blame you as long as you’ve been to Louvre and Slavia first. But, in any event, Erra’s Address is Konviktska 11, Prague 1. On the map: here. Website: here.
