Friends

Recommended

Friends is Prague's biggest gay venue outside Vinohrady and forms the center of a small cluster of gay venues near the national theater (with Tingl Tangl, Sauna Babylon, and Erra Cafe). This is also the most Czech of Prague's larger gay clubs. Don't worry, the people are generally friendly, you just might have a little trouble ordering a drink more complicated than pivo (beer).

With its long hall and arched roof, Friends may be a basement level club, but if it feels almost like an airplane hanger. The ceiling is festooned with disco balls and the bar, dance floor, and seating area blend together as the room fills up.

Friends hosts a weekly Karaoke night on Tuesdays and has fairly frequent events/shows, though again targeted more toward the local audience. This extra entertainment brings cover charges, never outrageous, but if you can't speak Czech then the boisterous tranny on stage is usually far less entertaining.

Friends is definitely worth a visit if you are in Prague for more than a weekend, check back here under the "This Week" section to see what night would be best during your stay.

You can also stop off in Sherlock's Pub next door, straight, but popular with tourists who enjoy paying to much.

Friends is open every day from 6:00pm to 4:00am (sometimes longer).

Address: Bartolomějská 11, Prague 1. On the map: here.
